8.3.5 Negative

The filter turns the image into the negative, that means, the image in which brightnesses of each color component are inverted. Lighter colors become darker and vice versa.
 
This transformation suits, for example, for intensification of white or gray details at the background of dark image areas, especially when the dark areas have prevailing sizes.
 
In fact, the filter reflects a narrow range of small brightnesses values at the original image into the broader range at the resulting image.
 
Negative
